After ignoring former House Speaker Newt Gingrich for three weeks, Mitt Romney's presidential campaign is renewing its assault on Newt Gingrich days before the South Carolina primary.

Romney's campaign released a new web video and microsite attacking the former Speaker of the House as an "undisciplined leader" featuring former Rep. Susan Molinari recounting her time serving in the House with Gingrich.

The campaign is also hosting a conference call for reporters with Molinari and former Sen. Jim Talent — the first of its kind in weeks.

Gingrich is coming off a strong performance in Monday night's Fox News/Wall Street Journal presidential debate, and has been seeing large crowds across the state, while Romney drew a small crowd yesterday in Florence, S.C.

Taken together, this means one thing — the once cocky Romney campaign is growing nervous in South Carolina. The strategy of allowing Gingrich to fall under his own weight has been abandoned. Now Romney is trying to crush his rival.
