Obama Plays On "Nostalgia" To Lean On '08 Network

Obama campaign tries to energize 2008 veterans.

President Barack Obama's 2008 operation was noted for its discipline and its faithfulness to the cause, but four years later, even they need some encouragement.

Below is the text of an email sent to Obama's 2008 staff, inviting them to a phone call on the state of the race with campaign manager Jim Messina.

    Hey '08 alums --

    Anyone feeling nostalgic for 2008?

It's been a while since a lot of us last talked, so we wanted to give you the latest update on the campaign. We're holding a call for OFA Alumni on Monday, March 12th, at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time -- and whether you're currently on staff, or doing something else, you should hop on. Jim Messina will give us a bird's-eye view of our progress, dig down into some of the outstanding work going on in the states, and talk about what we're doing differently.

We'll also talk about ways you can get involved with the campaign and grow the organization we started together more than five years ago.

Sign up here to join the call this Monday:

Once you RSVP, you'll receive the dial-in number and passcode to use for the call.

As we head into the general election, it's up to us to protect everything we worked for in 2008 -- and keep up the momentum. Wherever you are now, you're still an important part of this work. I hope you can join us Monday.

    Talk to you soon,

    Jeremy
