The pro-Newt Gingrich Super PAC Winning Our Future just released this web video imagining a debate between President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney, and claiming that the former Massachusetts governor is Obama’s dream opponent.
The video cuts to the heart of Gingrich’s argument for why he should be elected — that he could better stand up to Obama in debates. “Obama” is seen wiping the floor with Romney, who is reduced to flailing his arms and trying (unsuccessfully) to object to Obama’s points.
A signature line on the Gingrich stump speech is his call for seven Lincoln-Douglas style debates with the president, followed by a joke about Obama’s use of a teleprompter.
The video closes with an attack on Romney’s flip-flopping and more moderate positions while he was governor.
“I agreed with Governor Romney on many things, but this presidential candidate Romney — I don’t even know this guy,” the fake Obama says. “Then again, he doesn’t seem to know himself.”
