Do You Know What Species These ‘90s Characters Are?

Many have questioned the species of Arthur. From a mouse to a bear, there's been many speculations, but the truth is Arthur and his family are aardvarks.

Pinky and the Brain are just two mice trying to take over the world and failing terribly every time. Brain just needed a new sidekick, honestly.

Hailing from Australia, it's no surprise that Rocko is one of Australia's most popular animals. Although a close cousin to the kangaroo, Rocko is in fact a wallaby.

It should come as no surprise that crazy Ren is actually a hyper chihuahua who's always out of control.

Cats are usually pretty smart but not this one. Stimpy was just as dumb as Ren was crazy.

Although it's totally unfair that Pluto is a pet when Goofy gets to walk around, Goofy is also a dog.

Timon is a loner meerkat. Unlike most meerkats, Timon left his family behind and started a new crew, with Pumbaa and later Simba.

Never, ever call Pumbaa a pig. It's his biggest pet peeve. He is, and forever will be, a warthog.

The Animaniacs aren't any real animal species. Originally they were [meant to be ducks](http://mentalfloss.com/article/30629/way-more-you-ever-wanted-know-about-animaniacs), but the creators decided there were already too many cartoon ducks on the air, so they left the Animaniacs' animal origins ambiguous.

Oh dear. You don't know your dogs from your aardvarks. Don't worry, it's hard to get them all right. Maybe try again.
