Where are you watching the Tour de France this July? One of the best places to spend the day, or even the whole weekend, is the Dare 2b Yorkshire Festival of Cycling at Harewood House, home of the Official Ceremonial Start of the world’s greatest bike race on Saturday 5 July. The Festival, which runs from 4 – 6 July, will give tens of thousands of families and cycling fans the opportunity to camp next to the Tour route, watch the world’s best riders race through the grounds of one of England’s finest estates and enjoy a packed weekend of riding and entertainment. Day tickets are available for as little as £18 too. Live music, inspirational talks, an interactive BMX stunt-zone, big screens, a street velodrome and film screenings are just a few of the attractions that will accompany a participation events schedule that includes individual and team time-trials, duathlons, family rides, trail running, mountain biking, and unique led-rides to other vantage points on the Tour route. Festival Ambassadors Alistair & Jonathan Brownlee will be setting times for participants to beat on some of the events and Olympic heroine and local girl Lizzie Armitstead, as well as former Tour winner Stephen Roche, will even be taking part in some of the events themselves! Our huge outdoor cinema will screen films to around 1,000 people in the campsite on Friday and Saturday afternoons & evenings. All the electricity for each performance is produced by 12-15 energetic souls pedalling away on bikes, meaning the rest of you get to enjoy the entertainment! You can also visit the Yorkshire Festival of Cycling Shopping Expo at the heart of the Festival site, right next to the Tour de France route. We have a fantastic line up of Exhibitors signed up for the Dare 2b Yorkshire Festival of Cycling, they will present their latest cycling gear, equipment, outdoor clothing and lots of more. Furthermore the British Army & Royal Air Force are taking over 2 acres of the Festival site with an inflatable assault course, inflatable wrecking ball, climbing wall, bungee run, speed-shot football, laser quest, recruiting stands and military vehicle displays. More big draws are the Red Arrows, who will fly over the Festival at 12.00pm on Saturday 5 July, and the British Military Memorial Flight, including spitfires, Hurricanes, a Lancaster and a Dakota, which will do the same the following day. With the three different camping options we make sure, that everybody finds the right option. Standard Camping tickets include a weekend pass to the festival and 3 nights camping, with additional nights (Thursday and Monday) available. You get an allocated 10x10m pitch, can book next to friends and you can have up to 8 people on a pitch and on pitch parking. Kids under 12 can even go free and there are loads of things for kids including a “Scootathlon” and Kiddimoto Tour of Harewood. You can even go “glamping” with Tangerine Fields and Tangerine Geodome or Bedouin options. Tangerine Fields is every festival-goer’s dream. Turn up and find the perfect camping spot already picked out for you. Your tent is already up. Your friends are all camped next to you. Geodome or Bedouin are your options for luxury, comfort, fun and frivolity! But the main event of the weekend is, of course, the Ceremonial Start of the Tour de France at Harewood House, and visitors to the festival will be able to enjoy incredible views of the peloton as they ride down the drive, pause outside the house where they’ll be greeted by visiting dignitaries and then race onwards towards the Yorkshire Dales. Festival Tickets are on sale now for £18 per day. Camping is also available for as little as £14 per person per night. Children under 12 go free.
