11 Times The GOP Let Donald Trump Off The Hook

Most Americans have responded to Donald Trump's offensive statements and hateful rhetoric with outrage and disgust while leading national Republicans like Paul Ryan and Ron Johnson have just shrugged their shoulders.

John McCain “is a war hero because he got captured. I like people that weren’t captured.”

When asked if women should be punished for seeking an abortion Trump said, “there has to be some form of punishment.”

Trump accused U.S. veterans of stealing millions of dollars during the occupation of Iraq. “Iraq. Crooked as hell. How about bringing baskets of money, millions and millions of dollars, and handing it out. I want to know who are the soldiers that had that job because I think they’re living very well right now, whoever they may be.”

Trump said “I sort of hope” the housing market crashes so he could profit.

“Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States.”

After being endorsed by David Duke, the leader of the KKK, Trump refused to condemn the KKK and claimed to say he didn’t “know anything about David Duke.”

When asked if there should be a system to track Muslims in this country, Trump said, “there should be a lot of systems, beyond a database.”

Trump said Mexican immigrants “are bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime, they’re rapists.”

“This is a country where we speak English, not Spanish.”

Trump said federal Judge Gonzalo Curiel, who was presiding over a lawsuit against Trump University, had a “conflict of interest” because of his “Mexican heritage.”

Trump accused President Obama of aiding terrorists, saying, “we’re being led by a man that either is not tough, not smart, or has something else in mind.”
