Early Edition Connected To Friday Night Lights? Kyle Chandler May Have Predicted His Own Future!

Kyle Chandler has played some of the most iconic characters in TV history, but there is an interesting fan theory that could connect two of his most well-known characters from the past! Did Gary Hobson become Coach Eric Taylor six years after the end of Early Edition? Let's go through the rundown:

Early Edition was a show that ran from 1996-2000, starring Kyle Chandler as Gary Hobson, a Chicago bar owner who receives tomorrow's Chicago Sun-Times newspaper today. This leads Gary Hobson into an array of comical and sometimes serious situations throughout Downtown Chicago, trying to save people's lives and making life a little bit better for Chicago's citizens.

Now moving forward a couple of years into the show's fourth and final season where in Episode 9 titled "Weather Girl", Gary Hobson tries to give accurate weather forecasts to the local weather girl, Rebecca Waters, and ends up becoming smitten with her in the process. Towards the end of the episode when Rebecca meets up with Gary at McGinty's (Gary's bar), she reveals to him that she has decided to move to Texas to become a traffic reporter. She later comments to Gary that he doesn't seem like he travels very much and at this remark, he says "Oh, I always wanted to go to Texas though." In addition, we also know throughout the series that Gary Hobson is an avid football fan.

Six years later, in 2006, we see Kyle Chandler starring in Friday Night Lights as the inspirational and incorruptible Coach Eric Taylor. The show takes place in the fictional town of Dillon, Texas and Coach Taylor helps and inspires his high school football team to achieve success out in the field. Gary's comment about always wanting to go to Texas may have been a coincidence, but the irony of Kyle Chandler going to Texas six years later to portray Coach Taylor is hard not to think about.
