He completely failed reconstruction when he tried to run it alone. And look how GRUMPY he looks!

And then you realized that he didn't actually exist, and you got mad at all the segregated laws that were made.

4. You remember the Compromise of 1877

And although you were glad that voter fraud ended, you felt betrayed when the north pulled their federal troops in the south.

Seriously, what's not to like about Chicago? Jobs, transportation, skyscraper, factories...

Literally, that was the way people got places the #COOL way

7. "Separate But Equal" was a phrase that made you cringe

Remember Plessy v Ferguson? That's what legalizes segregation

Knigts of Labor, Populist Party, and American Federation of Labor were your baes and you wouldn't be able to live or work without at least one.

9. It was a bittersweet time to be an Indian

You could get land and be a citizen, but you also lost your tribe identity :(

Washington wanted gradual integration thru working but Du Bois just wanted to change right away.

The North learned about lynching, which was sad but also enlightening!

Immigration after the war brought cheaper labor to cities, which made more products, but less jobs.
