UCLA Paying $220K to Tasered Student - Civil Rights Lawsuit
Mostafa Tabatabainejad, then a 23 year old senior at UCLA, was in the library in the UCLA libary on November 2006 working on finale papers. When he was asked to provide identification. Tabatabainejad, a U.S. citizen of Iranian descent, refused, saying later that he thought he was being singled out because of his Middle Eastern appearance. He was awarded $ 220,000 in his civil rights lawsuit that was recently settled.
