1. AURORA : LIGHT OF CONVERGENCE

The Aurora Project is a free contemporary art exhibition centered in the rapidly developing Dallas Arts District. The project presents interactive new media artworks such as light , video, performance, and sound in exciting and unexpected public spaces. 7. AMERICAN PAINTING NOW : Curated by Erin Joyce

WAAS Gallery is happy to announce their latest exhibition, American Painting Now, curated by Erin Joyce. Featuring the work of HENSE, Nicholas Galanin, Adnan Razvi, Jacques Cazaubon Seronde, and William Ambrose; APN is an exposé of painting in the contemporary art world. Not since the 1980s when artists such as Jean Michel Basquiat, David Salle, and Julian Schnabel thrust painting back into the limelight has there been such imbricated engagement with the medium.

The featured artists have unique modalities; yet enter into conversation with one another within the gallery landscape. Their work displays the absorption of their environments, refracted through the prism of “America”, their heritages, and characteristics of their medium. American Painting Now is a dialogue, a means to allow newness to engage with the hallmarks of past eras.

8. Art for Advocacy: Dallas Children's Advocacy Center

ART for ADVOCACY celebrates the transformative power of art therapy in helping children process trauma and heal emotional scars as a result of abuse. This year’s event will feature a silent auction with works by 100 emerging and established artists as well as a handful of luxury experience packages. Proceeds will support DCAC’s work in improving the lives of abused children in Dallas County and providing national leadership on child abuse issues.
