Airing on ABC, the first line-up included Family Matters, Perfect Strangers, Full House, and Free Spirit. (the original, Sabrina the Teenage Witch.) Unfortunately, Free Spirit started the 2-year trend of “that other show.”

The network was clearly was hoping to give new series a ratings boost from the rest of the line-up. TGIF didn’t get it right until Dinosaurs aired in 1991.
