The War On School Dress Codes, And A High School Girl's Perspective

A high-school girl's perspective on the conflict of crop tops, short shorts, and increasing 'sexualizing' accusations.

First of all, I'm in high school. I'm not a school official. I'm not a behavior specialist. I don't want to cause any conflicts.

15-17 year olds in schools across the world are appalled by the fact that skin-showing articles in schools are banned for being inappropriate.

I, for one, agree with the veto, which is an unpopular opinion from someone my age.

A few days ago, one of my peers was removed from class for wearing a recent style. Her shorts' pockets fell lower than the short itself. Now, a Facebook page has opened, and students of mine are rallying to change the school dress code, days before exams begin.

Why do I object to the rally?

School is made to prepare us for our career positions in the future. The dress code is there to allow students to express themselves, as long as the clothing choices are ones you could wear to a meeting, or a presentation in front of your boss.

And what happens if you don't follow your employer's dress rules?

    You will be fired.

Teachers are not sexualizing students. They have not restricted the dress code so male students will not distracted. They are duly-equipping students to a work atmosphere; by educating, and aiding them to show proper work ethic.

So, in conclusion, school dress codes, if within reason, should not be modified when attacked about crop tops and short shorts.

    From,

    A fifteen-year-old debater.
