A Boy Catches A Frog. You Won't Believe What Happens Next!
A 17-year-old boy finds a frog in rural Alabama. What happened next will make you cry.
17-year-old Edward Thompson was going for a stroll through his rural backyard when he came across a small frog. Edward always had a predilection for animals so he picked up the frog and placed it inside an old pickle jar.
Despite having a pretty good day, Edward felt terrible. After all, keeping a frog in a small stuffy jar seemed unethical. What he did next will shock you.
Edward went to his backyard and gathered a handful of rocks, dirt and leaves to put in the jar. Amazing! With the natural grub in the jar, the frog was able to return to living naturally.
This would have been impressive enough, but what happened next left the internet in awe. Edward poked small air holes in the lid of the jar and fed the frog a dead ant. Unbelievable!
Not only did Edward accurately simulate the frog’s natural habitat, he also made sure the frog did not go hungry. What an inspiration!
The frog went on to live in the jar for a full four days before it died. Edward was deeply saddened. After all he took such great care of his new pet.
Autopsy reports from the local veterinarian reflected that the frog died from dehydration. How terrible!
Edward was heard saying “I did whatever I can to keep the frog healthy; just imagine how much sooner it would have died without my intervention” (Thompson). Inspiring!
When PETA heard about Edward’s moving story they summoned him immediately. “The passion that Edward displayed is just what we need”, said PETA vice president and co-founder Brenda Wolf (Wolf).
Edward received a metal for his deep love and empathy for animals. It’s easy to focus our love for animals on dogs and cats but Edward taught the world a valuable lesson. All animals matter. Whether big or small, reptile or mammal, animals are of utmost importance. May the frog rest in peace.
