Perks Of Being A Hume Hall Honors LLC Gator!

The Hume Honors Residential College is a living learning community open exclusively to members of the UF Honors program! We put together a list of the most unique and exciting resources this LLC has to offer so you can get excited to Live, Learn, and Lead as a #UFHonors Gator!

Honors on Wednesday

UF Honors students receive the Honors on Wednesday email and honors text messages to stay current and hear about honors events happening across campus throughout the year.

Student Honors Organization

The SHO office is located in the Hume Commons. SHO hosts regular meetings, programs, events, and leadership opportunities for Honors students while serving as the Area Council for Hume Hall. SHO hosts approximately 75 events throughout the year, making it one of the nation's most active student organizations!

Haunted Hume

Every October, the RAs for each floor organize their residents and pick a theme for their "haunted house". On the night of the event, students and families arrive in costume to experience Haunted Hume. From coloring to puzzles to mummy wrapping, participants tour each of the haunted houses with SHO guides! Awards are given for Scariest, Most Creative, and Best in SHO. After the tours, SHO hosts a costume party in its common area for all residents to enjoy!

Pie Your RA

Each year, students come out to "SHO Some Love" for their RAs as they buy shaving cream "pies" for $1 to shove in their RA's face! For every pie received, each RA earns one point. At the end of the event, the RA with the most points chooses which charity all of the proceeds will go to!

Exclusive Honors Classes

Honors gators are eligible to take exclusive honors courses such as: Un-Common Reads, Creativity in Context, Creativity in Action, Choices in Leadership in Scholarship, and more! Most of these classes are taught directly from classrooms in the Hume Commons!

House Cup Program

Similar to Harry Potter, Hume Hall is divided into "Houses" that compete for the House Cup presented at the end of each semester. Residents earn points for service (Honors without Borders), academics (honors courses), and engagement (intramural sports, attendance at Gators sporting events, completion of H-boxes)! Residents of the winning House receive prizes and are given priority for sign up in the Honors 2 community.

Faculty-in-Residence

Hume has a Faculty-in-Residence, Dr. David Barber of the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, who lives in the residential college and shares the residence hall living experience with students. This person plans and implements educational, recreational, social, and cultural programs while serving as a role model, mentor, adviser, teacher, and leader in the residential community.

Exclusive Study Spaces

Hume Commons offers a variety of comfortable study spaces both on the floors and in the common area. Residents also have access to a multimedia classroom for Honors classes and group study.
