The Highland Park stretch of York Boulevard is fast becoming one of the hottest spots to bar hop in Los Angeles and for good reason. Where else can you hit up five bars without getting an Uber?

1. The Hermosillo

At the heart of the Herm sits a projector- the same one your fourth grade teacher pulled out when she was feeling ambitious. Projected on the wall is not the state capitals, however, but a list of about a dozen local beers (and one very sour cactus cider) for you to try. Don't worry, they have samples.

2. Johnny's Bar

Johnny's Bar is the sort of establishment your mother warned you about. The music is deafening, the drinks are strong, and everyone wears leather jackets. Fun!

3. Hi Hat

4. Block Party

The visionary folks at Block Party set their sights high when they attempted to recreate a Brooklyn rooftop bar... on the ground floor of this Highland park establishment. Luckily, everyone is having way too much fun playing Wii tennis and shuffleboard to notice the lack of skyline or public transportation.

5. The York

On paper, The York has everything you need. It boasts beautiful high ceilings, large retractable windows, and plenty of liquor; Yet, in the flesh it's missing that je ne sais quoi which makes a bar memorable. The college kids, single thirty-somethings, and middle aged couples who crowd the bar on a nightly basis apparently disagree.
