You see one, you see them all. Yet, Save the Last Dance really was one of the better dance flicks to ever be made (and there are a LOT of them!) . It has been 13 years since this film was released and whether you are a fan or not; there are some things you just can't deny about this one that shows why it still has an audience today.

Sean plays Derek, a smart, driven, caring and did I mention gorgeous high school senior who has turned his life around. He connects with Sara (Julia Stiles), our leading lady through a love of dance, and boy does he have the moves!

2. The two leads are strong

Julia Stiles is amazing. She gave this film a lot of heart-felt moments through her sheer talent as a dramatic actress.

Sean Patrick Thomas has wit. He can play cheeky, smart and sexy all in one. His chemistry with Stiles made this a teenage casting dream.

Two strong leads results in a solid film and acting career for them both.

3. Kerry Washington's breakthrough role was in this film

So we love her as Olivia Pope, but her role as Chenille was a stand out in this film. It is little wonder her career has skyrocketed since then. Films with such a strong supporting cast are gold. Enough said.

4. The soundtrack is AMAZING!

Ok, so there are a LOT of soundtracks out there, some good and some really good! This particular soundtrack is just awesome! From the 'theme' song 'Shining Through' by Fredro Starr and Jill Scott, to Ice Cube's 'You can do it'; this is one R n B soundtrack you need to buy if you haven't already. Get on it!

5. It makes you want to DANCE!

Ok, so the music has you dancing in your seat. But the dance scenes- especially those set at the club they frequent 'Steps', makes us all want to get our groove on.

Yes, it is a predictable film at times. However, the characters are complicated and the story doesn't always lead right where audiences expect. The script is engaging and witty which helps make it a 'stand above the rest' film; showing that they were not afraid to focus on serious themes in a teenage film.

No one can deny that this has one of the more stronger scripts than those currently on offer, so credit where credits due.
