10 THINGS YOU DON'T THINK ABOUT WHEN YOU LIVE WITH YOUR PARENTS

moving out of your parents wakes you up to the real world where you have to do things on your own, its rough at first but I promise you will be a stronger person

1. THE ELECTRIC BILL

this through me for a loop the first couple of months because it can be drastically different from month to month, air conditioners are a big contributor to the bill during the summer months, now I no why my mom always yelled at me to turn off the lights

2. DOING YOUR LAUNDRY

not to mention making sure you have laundry detergent, when you move out you are now responsible for your own laundry and you may learn the hard way that you cant mix your reds with your whites ;)

3. DOING THE DISHES

its best to do your dishes daily or they pile up in the sink, this can be slightly easier if you have a dishwasher, but none the less you have to do them and put them back where they belong or you'll have a messy kitchen and nobody likes a messy kitchen

4. MOWING THE LAWN

this was never an issue until I moved out and learned that I had never even turned a lawn mower on let alone mow my entire lawn in an orderly fashion, I botched my whole yard the first couple of times so I hired a landscaper which makes life easier but it's another expense every month

5. TAKING OUT THE GARBAGE

I always seem to remember that the garbage goes out after I'm already tucked in bed, your gonna have to get up and take it out because it only comes twice a week and you don't want a house with garbage piled up outside

6. COOKING

cooking is not my thing, and it's not only the actual cooking but making sure you have all the right ingredients and correct pots and pans, it's also essential to have the proper utensils because trust me its hard to flip a pancake with a butter knife

7. GETTING THE MAIL

mail comes daily therefore you need to check your mailbox every day, putting the little red flag up means the mailman will pick up whatever is in there, you need to remember to buy stamps, freaking stamps?! who even thinks about that lol

8. PROPERTY TAX

you will finally be able to see what you've always heard older people talking about, its an inevitable truth that we all must accept, its a bill you'll always have, pay attention to your town meetings so you will be aware of what's going on in your area

9. PEROXIDE

I can bet you've never thought about buying peroxide until you move out, it was always something that was just there and until your on your own you don't realize that it will come in handy and is a necessity as well as band-aids but on the flip side if you buy these things you will have them for a while

10. CLEANING PRODUCTS

you need more than windex when you have a whole house to clean, plus your gonna go through a lot of paper towels, so make sure you stock up, yellow cleaning gloves are also a good idea to protect your hands, after hours of using cleaning products your hands may dry out, also a vacuum cleaner is a must-have, trust me you will use it
