8 Things I Thought Upon Re Watching Breaking High

Breaker was a teen TV series that aired from 1997 to 1998. As a six-year old I found the show scandalous exciting romp about older kids on a boat kissing. As an adult I reacted differently.

All countries can be boiled down to a costume, a bad accent and their most prominent stereotype

Storylines of love, betrayal and hormones took place against a backdrop of "international locals". Yet every place look suspiciously like British Columbia. In order to convey whatever country they visited they'd pile on every stereotype they could think of until you, the viewer got the point.

Oh look! The girls got trapped by a lions in Kenya! Let's wear berets and eat cheese in Paris! Oh no, let's have a whole storyline dedicated to a " rug-selling charleton" in Turkey.

Denise was the best. Nuff said.

She knew what was what and wasn't bogged down by the drama that seemed to plague the rest of the ship (save Jimmy of course). She focused on her getting her grades and seeing the world. Like. A. BOSS

Plus Persia White went on to play Lynn the best girlfriend on Girlfriends.

Max was the WORST.

So sensitive about everything, Max was the personification of Simple Plan's "Untitled (How could this happen to me). He treated Cassidy and Alex like shit half the time and never tried to deal with his emotions. The brooding artist shtick can only work so long before it gets old, but I guess his 90s hot guy look was supposed to make up for all his shortcomings.

Sean and Tamira FOREVER

Sean and Tamira were the best couple. They both were the best versions of themselves when they were together. Sean stopped being skeezy and Tamira stopped being weepy. Plus they had fun, while it lasted.

How did anyone study?

Hardcore there were 4 adults on the boat and only 1 was an actual teacher. How did anything get done, especially in between exciting new locales. How were they going to master Calc 2 when Egypt was right there?!?

Okay, what type of money did these they have to lay down to attend Breaker High? Like the insurance alone, then visas for all the countries, food and actual tuition. Tamira, Maz and Ashley can be explained, but how did everyone else pay?
