    A Letter To Carol

Yesterday I had an encounter with a homeless woman who really shocked me. I'll probably never see her again but I wrote an article and was wondering if it could be featured somewhere. Maybe Carol (the crazy homeless woman) will somehow come by it.

    A letter to Carol

Yesterday something interesting happened to me. I was on my way to work as usual, and I was a little early so I decided to grab some dinner before I clocked in. I quickly went through the Taco Bell drive thru and simply started to eat my meal while driving. Probably not the safest idea, believe me I know. It was a crunchwrap supreme and it was HUGE, I could only manage to eat about half of it by the time I got to the parking lot at work.

As I was driving up to my place of work I noticed a homeless man passing by and not too far behind him a homeless woman wearing bunny ears on her head walking too. I didn't think much of it and just parked my vehicle. It was a good thing I kept my doors locked because before I could even unhook my seat belt I heard tapping on my passenger window. Immediately, I looked over to see the homeless woman standing outside my car asking me to roll down my window.

I know that this is where most people would just ignore her or drive off, which I probably should have done. But instead, I decided to simply crack the window a little bit and told her that I did not have any cash on me. I could tell she was looking at my wallet and I opened it up to show her that there was no money in it, you know, as proof. Just for a future reference, you should probably not open up your wallet and show it to a total stranger...homeless or not.

She seemed to understand that I did not have any cash and said "Well, my name is Carol and I just want you to say a prayer for me." I felt horrible and told her of course I would pray for her. The next thing I know she saw my taco bell bag with my half eaten crunchwrap supreme and asked me if she could have it. I was shocked. Mostly because I knew I had already eaten it and I didn't want to give her half eaten food. I told her that I had already eaten it and that it was just a bag for trash. This is when she stuck her whole hand, cigarette and all into my brand new car. She grabbed the taco bell bag and said that she didn't mind eating leftovers. I quickly realized that this lady is probably very desperate for food and money so I quickly tried to dismiss her by telling her that I would pray for her and to enjoy the leftovers. Once she had the Taco Bell bag she put her hand..and her cigarette back inside my car through the cracked window. She looked inside my vehicle and said "You know, I can't have the meal without the drink." This is where I drew the line, I mean this lady just stole leftover Taco Bell from my car and I was frightened. I told her "No, I'm sorry ma'am. Have a good day." I was shocked by her next reply, "Well can I have that?" as she was pointing to my cell phone charger on my passenger seat. I quickly told her no and she tried to grab my UPS box that was also on the seat next to me. I told her to have a good day and that she needed to go. She pulled her hand out of the window and I quickly closed it until she walked away.

I sat in my car for about 3 minutes before I quickly opened up all windows to my car and turned the AC on full blast until I could get the smell out. I was so shocked at what had happened I called my mother and told her what had just happened. She told me to get inside and call the police, which I did. The police came to my work office and I explained to them what had happened. The cops told me that all day they had been chasing her around town. Apparently, she was at a church earlier that day and was cursing at people. But by the time the cops get there, she's gone. The cops left and I got back to work and went along with the rest of my night.

But here I am the very next day and I'm wondering about Carol. She must be in a horrible situation to do that. I mean, she is homeless. I feel horrible for her. I know there are plenty of homeless shelters and charities out there that could help her. And I don't know what she did to end up in this position but I do hope she can pull out of it and live a good life.

Carol, I know I'll probably never see you again but if you somehow read this please know that I'm sorry if I was rude and I am praying for you. I'm praying that you can find help. I'm praying that you can go to the homeless shelter, find a job and have some success in your life. I wish you nothing but happiness.

    Merry Christmas Carol.

    Sincerely,

The girl who you unexpectedly made an impression on.
