    The UK is a weird and wonderful place, full of strange people doing strange stuff. 'The Strangest Sports In The UK' is a celebration of British absurdness!

    Snail Racing

    The World Snail Racing Championships, which is held in Norfolk every year, is attended by hundreds of people. I'm guessing that last years race is just finishing now, right?

    Clog Cobbin

    Clog Cobbin is an actual, real sporting event from Lancashire. Competitors have to throw a Lancashire clog (a type of shoe) backwards over the shoulder. The winner is the person who throws the clog the furthest, without it landing in the river at the end. I have no idea why this happens either!

    Stinging Nettle Eating

    Stinging Nettle Eating is a, somewhat painful, sport from Devon. The championships are entered by many competitors every single year, something that I am sure they regret immediately.

    Gurning

    The World Gurning Championship, held in Cumbria; involves pulling incredibly ugly faces through a horse'€™s collar. "Congratulations winner, you are the ugliest person here!"

    Toe Wrestling

    Toe wrestling takes place in Derbyshire, on a regular basis. The rival feet are put on a playing area, which is known as a toedium and then they fight it out.. They have even petitioned to be included in the Olympics several times. Oddly, without success.

    Egg Jarping

    Egg jarping from Co Durham is a bit like conkers but with hard-boiled eggs instead. Why the eggs can't just be eaten in a show of peace is beyond me!

    Tin-bath racing

    Tin-bath racing is held on the harbour at Castletown, Isle of Man. This one actually sounds fun. Very wet, but fun!

    Cheese Rolling

    Cheese rolling is a popular sport in Gloucester. A 9 lb round of Double Gloucester cheese is rolled down a hill, and competitors have to chase after it. The first person over the finish line at the bottom of the hill wins the cheese. It looks like a lot of danger just to win a cheese!

    My next aim is to try all of these sports!
