Internet Terrorizes Muslim Woman In Islamophobic Post

In a recent Facebook post gone viral, a photo was snapped of a Muslim woman in a bank wearing the traditional burqa, which covers all of the woman's face except for her eyes. The woman who took the photo then went on to ask her friends if she thought that it should be legal or appropriate for her to be wearing the burqa, seeing as it 'may pose safety problems'. Below is the photo posted, and the status that went along with it.

    The photo in question:

    The caption read...

"I generally avoid controversial post but this is sad. We are not allowed to wear hoodies or sunglasses in a bank but this is acceptable? Why are we catering to a different culture here in our country and showing preferential treatment to someone that could potentially be a danger to our society and a religion that has made it widely known they do not like America?"

The comments displayed horrific amounts of xenophobia and Islamophobia.

    Some stooped to name-calling.

People became so angered by the photo, they expressed becoming physically violent with her.

Luckily, a few came to her defense.

Ironically, while most people in the comments are stating that she needs to take off her burqa because she is 'in America', this obviously clashes with the 1st Amendment to the US Constitution, which states that "everyone in the United States has the right to practice his or her own religion, or no religion at all".

What is your take on this incident? Is it a blatant exhibit of Islamophobia and xenophobia, or should she change her ways to fit into America's society, and to make some American's feel 'safer'?
