    Haunted Places: The Lost City Of Rhode Island

    Hidden by the woods, by acres of plants and shrubbery, and by lost memories of a time nearly forgotten, you will find Hanton City, or as the locals call it, “The Lost City”. Far away from the main city of Smithfield, RI, Hanton City was a city created during the 1600s because of several possible reasons. One theory suggests the town was created by loyalists (colonists who remained loyal to the King of England) who fled to create their own town after an unwelcome existence in the main cities.
