What is Steam?

Steam is an Internet-based digital distribution platform developed by Valve Corporation offering digital rights management (DRM), multiplayer, and social networking.

Steam provides the user with installation and automatic updating of games on multiple computers, and community features such as friends lists and groups, cloud saving, and in-game voice and chat functionality.

The software provides a freely available application programming interface (API) called Steamworks, which developers can use to integrate many of Steam's functions into their products, including networking and matchmaking, in-game achievements, micro-transactions, and support for user-created content through Steam Workshop.

In other words...... A website where you can buy and download games online.

Steam is known for their variety games of indie games.

You can also buy games during sales or the daily special offers.

Before you can become a Steam user,

you will first need to download the Steam software (application).

Step 1: Create an account on Steam

Step 2: Log In

Log into steam after you have verified your account through your email.

Step 3: Create a Profile Name

Go to Steam > Settings > Friends.

From here you may choose to edit your profile to your liking.

You may be as crazy and wacky as you want.

Step 4: Search for Games

How do you find games?

Go to the Steam application on your desktop or go to the Steam website on a browser.

From there you may choose the game or games that you want to buy or your may also choose to download the free to play games which Steam provides.

Step 5: Unsure about the game?

Check on Youtube for Gameplays, trailer and guides are some of the popular search words.

Step 6: Still Unsure about the Game?

Steam have a new feature that allows users to post their reviews. Scroll down at the game's page (on Steam) to find the "Helpful customer reviews" section.

You can look at the "Positive" and "Negative" reviews. Even "Funny" reviews.

Step 7: System Requirements

You can see the system requirements of the game.

The system requirements also show the minimum and/or recommended requirements.

Step 8: Buy the game (or games).

In order to buy a game (or games), you will need to add it your cart.

Step 9: Make your first purchase on Steam

When purchasing a game (or games), you may choose to buy it for yourself or you may choose to buy it as a gift, to give to a friend (or friends).

If you're thinking about purchasing more games while you are at your shopping cart, you can click the "CONTINUE SHOPPING" option.

Step 10: Find your game on Steam

Check your email for you purchase receipt to check and confirm your purchase if you want too.

Then go to Library and you can either set your game to Favorite by right clicking.

Step 11: Download Your Game

Go to Library -> Games -> Right Click -> Install Game

You can scroll down and check out the the downloading button on the bottom.

Step 12: While you are Waiting

Meanwhile you can scroll down and check out other games. If you come across a "enter a birthday." Put a fake age. :P

You can meanwhile answer your Facebook or do something else. If your game is going to take more than 8 hours to download. Leave it over night.

Step 13: Have a Wishlist

Wishlist is good because you can save the games that you want to buy for later.

Step 14: Download Complete
