My favourite moment of each day on this year's Tenteleni project in Lekazi was the School assembly at Khaliphani. My project partner Cristyn Lloyd and I loved starting our day hearing the cheerful singing of the learners which was normally accompanied by humorous impromptu dancing from both learners and teachers! It was a hugely uplifting way to begin the day, and never failed to make me smile. Holding our own assembly on our final day at Khaliphani was an emotional goodbye after 7 weeks of teaching, but it was one of my favourite moments on project nevertheless. -Carol Barker, Lekazi, 2014

    12. Woody's favourite project moment was working with Young County Change Makers

Woody's favourite moments can be captured in this blog which focuses on his partnership with the Young County Change Makers, whose aim is to combat inequality in education, employment and human rights by working with the young people of Kisumu to ensure that they aren't left behind. -Woody Chau, Kisumu volunteer, 2014

    13. "My inspiring Tenteleni project moment ? Understanding that young people can and will make an impact"

Tenteleni is a youth-driven, volunteer-run charity that supports the development of young people in the UK and Africa in collaboration with local partners. We provide young people with international volunteering placements in schools and local organisations in South Africa, Kenya and Tanzania for 8 weeks during the University summer period.

Tenteleni's values are centred on ethical and responsible volunteering. We work closely with long-standing in-country partners to meet the needs of the local community while developing our own young people. We are committed to developing the skills and employability of our own volunteers and the national volunteers we work alongside. Our alumni have gone on to careers in social work, teaching, the charity sector and finance.
