What To Get Excited For This Upcoming Fall Semester

The Fall semester at Temple is like a breath of fresh air; the summer construction brings a facelift to campus, there's a new freshman class larger than the one before, and there's always new and exciting things to discover whether it's your first semester here or your last! Here's just a few of the many things to look forward to this upcoming semester!

Welcome Week

Welcome week is the perfect opportunity time to take to get familiarized with campus and the surrounding neighborhood. Everyone is moving in so the campus is bustling with students and parents preparing for the upcoming school year. Classes don't start until the following week so enjoy as much time as possible catching up with your friends at Beury Beach, making new ones on your dorm floor, and attending one of the many activities Temple holds on campus!

Football Games

Another semester full of fun down at the Linc is just around the corner and who couldn't be more happy about it? Nothing's better than taking a bus down to the tailgate with your friends to watch the Owls take on their opponents in the home of the Super Bowl Champs. Temple football is looking at an eventful season ahead with their home opener against Villanova on September 1st!

Food Trucks

Of the many incredible things about Temple - the food trucks are high up on the list. The varieties of foods available across campus is nothing short of amazing, and sometimes the hardest decision is deciding on the right place with your friends! There are options for vegans, vegetarians, and our carnivores out there, so be sure to try as many as you can; you'll be amazed at what can come out of a truck.

Finding Your Place to Chill on Campus

One of the coolest things about Temple is that it actually feels like a college campus even despite it's location within the city. With plenty of new green space and more to be added in the upcoming years, finding a place to hang outdoors on campus is honestly kind of hard because there's just so many options. On a nice day the entire campus is bustling with students and faculty enjoying their favorite spot to eat lunch or do some work outside.

Exploring Philadelphia

Temple is located in one of the nations largest, most populous cities oozing with culture and a ridiculous amount of things to do for anyone. There's an endless amount of restaurants, parks, stores, - everything. You really won't be bored here, whether on campus and the surrounding neighborhood, Fishtown, Center City, Old City, West Philly and everywhere else. Philadelphia's a playground, and you're now in it.

Tyler's Art Gallery

Temple's Tyler School of Art is one of the finest in the country; amongst every wall in the building (including the ceilings) student's art is displayed for all. With rotating galleries the entire year there's always something new and different to from each respective major. It's inspiring to see what these students can do while their skills only keep improving, creating bigger and better things year after year! Be sure to take a walk through Tyler every now and again, it's a treat that we have such great talent on our campus.

Syllabus Week

Definitely the most relaxed week of the semester, syllabus week gets you geared up for the upcoming 16 weeks. Meet your professors, find that unassigned assigned seat, and map out the best route to class before you start rolling out of bed 10 minutes prior to it starting. This is also the opportunity to perfect your schedule during the add drop period before classes start getting real, so be sure you really can handle that 8 A.M before it's too late!

Try out your Meal Plan

In addition to the food trucks, there is far from a shortage of options on campus to go and flex your meal plan. Go to the SAC for some Chik Fil A or Saladworks, or head over to J&H to stuff your face with just about everything you can think of. You'll also be able to try the new options at the downstairs Morgan dining hall too; also be sure to check out Hillel for some of the best food on campus that you can use your meal plan for. Find your lunch squad, find your dinner squad and fill up!

Making Yourself at Home

Whether in a new off-campus apartment or on-campus residence, you want your new home to actually feel like one, and it's the perfect opportunity to truly make a place your own. From your bedroom, to bathroom, to the kitchen - make it your happy place with tapestries, posters, and string lights to set the perfect mood. You'll find it hard not to flex that Amazon student account when you see your friends and neighbors with the coolest decor.
