Things To Consider When Spring Cleaning

Now that you're settled back into the Spring semester, you might be thinking it's time to do that major cleaning you've been saying you were going to do for about three months. But where to start!? We've got the low down on the best tips and tricks to start your Spring Semester on a clean slate.

Get rid of expired food or open containers that may have been left out over break.

We all have that one container of cheese balls that have sat on the counter since September. If they're not sealed, chances are they're not fresh. Make sure to get rid of any foods that may be expired. Not only is this good for your own health, but it clears up space for new, fun foods!

Disinfect, disinfect, disinfect

Put those Clorox Wipes you stole from home over break to good use! College students have heightened risks of coming in contact with germs and with flu season in full swing, disinfecting your space is a great way to avoid sickness. Remember- you might not want to use unexcused absences so early in the semester!

Organize!

Drawers and closets are great places to start. Organizing your clothing and getting rid of items you don't wear anymore can be a great way to make more room. Create a Cleaning Chart

It might have been easy to push it off last semester, but this time around you mean business! To keep up with chores in your room/apartment, make a chart of everything that needs to get done on a bi-weekly basis. Alternate weeks for different chores so that you it's a new routine every time. Making cleaning part of your everyday routine is a great way to ensure it gets done!

Wash all blankets, comforters, pillows, and towels

There's nothing as satisfying as getting into a bed with clean sheets. After you tear through the rest of your room/apartment during spring cleaning, top it off by washing all of your larger-sized linens. It's like the cherry on top of the spring-cleaning-ice cream sundae.
