6 Things Cat Owners Are Not

Owning a cat does not make us a certain type of person.

Sex starved

Despite common belief, it is quite possible to have a healthy level of sexual adventure within our lives. When I adopted my first cat, I did not sign an agreement to be celibate the rest of my life.

Crazy

If a cat owner is crazy... it's because we're well...crazy. Owning a cat is simply a bonus! The fact that I have a feline wrapped around my ankles while I'm dancing around my house with a hairbrush is a minor detail.

Dog Haters

Owning a cat... or 12 cats... does not somehow make a person an instant dog hater. Many of us have owned dogs in the past, or own a dog as well as a couple cats. Those who do not... well, we simply understand how much EASIER it is to own a cat. They bathe themselves, go the bathroom in their own space, and they don't rip apart the entire living room couch when you leave them alone for 10 minutes. Cats are just a lower maintenance animal.

Boring

We go to parties, we go out dating, we drink... a lot. Pretty much, we're exactly like everybody else, with the added bonus of having a cat. Our alcoholic drinks just might have a couple cat hairs floating in it.

Alone

Cat owners are far from lonely! In fact, with the Internet's help, we have become some of the most popular people in the world. People know everything about people and their cats. Owning a cat is like being a member of an infamous community without ever having to apply. Simply post a picture of your pet... and boom...endless friendships! And have you ever been to a cat owner's house? The cat is like... the main event. Everybody wants to pet that damn cat!

And in the end... if a cat owner ever does feel some sense of lonely.. they have a furry friend whom is always willing to curl up next to them. Can't lose.

Different

Cat owners are just like everybody else... just with a cat. Some of us are shy. Some of us are outgoing. Some of us are male. Some of us are female. Some of us are straight. Some of us are gay. The one key factor that brings us all together...? We chose to bring an adorably furry friend into our lives to claim as our own. That's it. Outside of that, we're exactly like everybody else.

So if you're judging someone for being a cat owner...

I have to assume it's because you're jealous of the awesome connection we have with our cats... and the awesome membership we have to the ever growing cat lover's community!
