Every year, thousands of hopeful immigrants apply for citizenship in Canada. After a gruelling process, all applicants must pass a randomized test of 20 questions about Canada. How well will you do? You must get at least 75% to pass.

When did the British North America Act come into effect?

The BNA Act came into effect on July 1st, 1867 as an agreement between the British and Canadian Parliaments and signalled the official formation of Canada as an independent nation, by laying out the rules of government, justice, and taxation.   
However, it wouldn't be until 1982 that Canada gained full control over its constitution with The Canada Act. Yes, 1982. The same year ET & Wrath of Khan were in theatres.

On August 24th of 1814, British & Canadian troops breeched security at the White House. President Madison and his family had already evacuated, so the troops raided the kitchen and sat down for a meal before looting it and then setting the House ablaze. The fire damaged the structure so badly that it took nearly 6 years to rebuild.

The Queen is the living embodiment of The Crown and the idea helps unites Canadians to give a collective sense of belonging & pride.

What three requirements must you meet in order to vote in a federal election?

Voting on election day is very easy. If you're already registered (from a previous election), your voting card will arrive in the mail. If you're not, you can pre-register by visiting elections.ca. Alternatively, you can show up on election day with 
a) a government piece of ID with your name & address on it
OR
b) two pieces of ID, one with your name/photo on it and something that proves your address (such as a utility bill or lease).

The Charter was entrenched into the Constitution in 1982 by Prime Minister Trudeau and was written to replace the Bill of Rights which was only a law, limiting it's effectiveness. Entrenching it ensured that the rights and freedoms of Canadians could not be altered or changed without a the full cooperation of the entire nation, protecting it from partisan politics and micro-aggressions. It remains one of the strongest rights legislative documents in the world.

Yes, to the Queen. New Canadians swear allegiance to The Queen, so do Members of Parliament and the Legislatures, military and police officers. We do not swear allegiance to a piece of cloth (office), a document (a constitution) or a political entity. Rather we swear allegiance to a person who embodies all these as well as our collective values as a people.

Canada's capital city is Ottawa, located in Ontario (though it's just a short 20 minute walk to Quebec). It's proximity between the two provinces is exactly why Queen Victoria chose the city in 1857, as she felt it served to connect Upper and Lower Canada and was a port city. Sadly, you did not pass the test. But don't fret, you're allowed to retake the test twice, that's three attempts! So go hit those books, meet with a study group, utilize resources at your community center and I'm sure you'll get it next time. And don't stress, if you fail the test all three times there's still a way for you to come to Canada; if you meet all the other immigration requirements, you can sit down for a personal interview with an Officer.
