12 Steps To "Local Status" When Studying Abroad In Australia

Studying abroad in Australia is starting to change you. You are now ordering a side of tomato sauce instead of ketchup, and you've become pretty used to spending as much time as possible on the beach.

    1. You now show up to a BBQ fully expecting them to serve you a sausage instead of a burger or hot dog.

    2. You have at least attempted to watch and understand Australian sports.

    3. You have started to embrace the cruisey laid back Aussie attitude.

    4. You have become fully immune to the dance music playing everywhere you go.

    5. You've become used to not tipping.

    6. You've started to adopt all of the Aussie phrases and words into your everyday vocabulary.

    7. You know the meaning of being "Sun Smart" now.

    8. You've come to appreciate savory pumpkin foods.

    9. You now look to the right first, not left when crossing the street.

    10. You are finally remembering to pay with one and two dollar coins.

    11. You have found yourself explaining or even defending your love of peanut butter to your new Australian friends.

    12. You know that Drop Bears are real.
