1. The Taste

This is a cooking competition where contestants are chosen to be on the show with a blind spoon taste test. The four judges, Anthony Bourdain, Nigella Lawson, Ludo Lefebvre, and Marcus Samuelsson, eat a bite of the food and decide if they want the chef on their team. Think food version of The Voice. (Disclaimer: ABC cancelled this show after 3 seasons, so if you fall in love watching it beware of the heartbreak)

Diners, Drive-ins and Dives is a Food Network show that follows the host, Guy Fieri, across the country as he samples some of the most delicious food ever. Equal parts food and career envy. Also brings on the road trip cravings.

3. Top Chef

This competition show is produced by, Magical Elves Productions, the same company that produces Project Runway. The challenges these chefs face each episode are very creative and fun to watch.

4. Ace of Cakes

This show features Duff Goldman, chef and owner of Charm City Cakes in Baltimore, Maryland, and his crew of decorators while they strive to create astonishing and awe-inspiring cakes for their clients each week. Each show consists of four new chefs who battle it out for a $10,000 prize at the end of the show. There are three rounds, an appetizer, entree, and dessert. The chefs must use the ingredients that they are given in a mystery basket at the beginning of each round. This show is fun to watch because the mystery items can get really strange and it is mind blowing that the chefs can actually cook some gourmet meals with them. Since the contestants change every show it is easy to follow along with each new episode, even if you watch them out of order!

7. DC Cupcakes

This series follows sisters and business partners Sophie LaMontagne and Katherine Kallinis (later Berman) as they run a small cupcakery located in Washington, D.C. called Georgetown Cupcakes. The two sisters are very quirky and fun personalities to watch as they make amazing sculptures out of miniature cupcakes. They really led the way for the cupcake trend. The cravings after you watch this show are REAL, so make sure you have cupcake accessibility beforehand.

8. Hell's Kitchen

Hell's Kitchen is a reality cooking competition hosted by chef Gordon Ramsay. There are two teams, a red and blue, that compete against each other doing food service challenges in a real restaurant setting.
