Disclaimer: I must admit I have worked with Bowser before. In fact that's me behind him in the video above. I don't know him too well. I'm vouching for him, because I personally witnessed his talent, unique filmmaking voice, and work ethic.
House Mother is the brain child of writer/director/actor Andrew Bowser. Many of you may be familiar with Bowser from his Onyx the Fortuitous videos or his work with The Nerdist. House Mother is a short horror film currently in preproduction. It's currently seeking financial backers to make this nightmare come to life.
House Mother follows in the footsteps of the works of Stuart Gordon and Clive Barker. Bowser promises a grotesque body horror flick with practical monster effects. He's got expert makeup artist/monster designer Bruce Spaulding Fuller on his team. His resume includes Army of Darkness, Thor, and Edward Scissorhands.
Ok, so the monster is in good hands, now what about the plot? The plot is a wacky Lovecraft fueled tale combined with the sensibility of 80s slashers like The House on Sorority Row. House Mother revolves around a sorority house where the monster of a cruel former House Mother is said to reside within the walls.
Bowser's goal is to raise $50,000, for his short. If the short receives positive feedback, he intends to adapt it into a feature. Backers of the project may receive credit on the film, a personalized message from Onyx, a copy of the film's poster, an engraved VCR, or a bag of House Mother Swag. If you're a fan of body horror, Lovecraft, or 80s movies this is the bandwagon to jump on!
