5. "Psychology is not a real science."

I assure you that psychology is, in fact, a real science. My degree even says "Bachelor of Science in Psychology". Yes, we may be happy with a .6 correlation or a .05 confidence level, but we collect our data empirically just like you "hard" science folks.

And most of the time we get published in peer-reviewed journals, too!

4. "Can you read my mind right now?"

The American Psychological Association (APA) defined psychology as "the study of the mind and behavior"; however, that does not mean that we can read your mind.

3. "You can't really do anything with a bachelor in psychology."

Okay, there might be some truth to that. But most of us who got into the field knew from the beginning that we would have to get an MS/MA, a Ph.D., or a Psy. D. degree to reach our career goal.

That being said, you can totally do a ton of shit with your bachelor in psych. If you have some lab experience, you can be working in a lab as a research assistant or working in a hospital as a research coordinator. If lab work isn't your thing, you can be doing data entry or data analysis. Because SPSS (Don't even get me started on SPSS).

SIGH.

Alright, while some of us are going into counseling or clinical field, some of us couldn't give a fuck about, well, other people's problems. Like, if I were to be your therapist, I'd probably tell you to shut the hell up and take some SSRIs.

Psychology is a big field, and there are other cool fields like behavioral neuroscience, social psychology, health psychology, industrial/organizational psychology, human factors psychology, the list goes on.

But most importantly, we really don't care about your goddamn problems. Go see a real professional therapist.
