15 Interview Questions Recruiters Need To Stop Asking, or I Am Going to Answer Them Honestly, and You Won't Like It.
Being in the field of Human Resources, you would think that someone who hires people for a living would be pretty frikken amazing at being interviewed right?! WRONG! I am currently in my early stages of my career in the field of HR, and can't seem to land an internship that I actually want in order to graduate from my program all because I SUCK at interviews. I think it's because I am "too" honest and I seriously have no idea what the recruiter is looking for when they ask these questions. All I know is that I AM DONE with interviews, I LITERALLY CAN'T EVEN.
Dear ALL recruiters, I suck at interviews because of YOU. For the love of god please stop asking these questions, and make mine and everyone else's life easier. kk thanks.
1. How do you keep yourself organized?
- Why does is matter how I keep myself organized? You do you, and let me do me. As long as the work gets done and it's correct, who TF cares how many "post it" notes I use?! I use 20/ page, HAPPY?!!
2. Tell me about a time you had to pay attention to detail?
- Um….the picture behind you is crooked, your outfit does not match, and you look borderline homeless. I also noticed that you have pieces of last night's dinner stuck in your teeth, TF you mean "attention to detail"?!!!!
3. Tell me about yourself.
- Why?! You read my Cover letter and Resume right?! What else do you want to know?! All YOU need to know is that I am capable of doing the job, and my resume states that I can, so are you calling me a liar? #Rude
4. Why should we hire you?
- I should be the one asking why I should work for you. What makes you so damn special from the other 1,000,000 places that I could be working at. You should hire me, because YOU NEED ME, because if you didn't I wouldn't be in this interrogation room. #seriously? I was also told that money was involved. But in all seriousness, you should hire me because I am special……my mom can confirm that for you.
5. What do you know about our company?
- I literally know nothing about your company. I applied because it was late at night, and didn't really pay attention to what I was applying for. Are you happy?!
6. Do you have any future plans to go away while you are working for us?
- TRICK QUESTION! Are you implying that if I had a life, you would not hire me? If I said "yes, I actually plan to go away for 2 weeks to Miami with my boyfriend" you're telling me that it won't affect your hiring decision?! Of course it will! Why?! Because who the hell hires someone who literally plans to take off work before even getting the job?! So you basically force me to lie and have me convince you that I have no life outside of work. Thanks for making me a liar.
7. What are your weaknesses?
- How the hell does someone answer this honestly?! My weakness is binge watching "The Real Housewives", especially at work. By asking this question you're again forcing us to lie some more, by the end of the interview the only thing you accomplished is creating pathological liars and sending us back out into the work force with these new lying capabilities. Thanks again.
8. What are your strengths?
- I am half way through this interview without passing out #winning. I am also really good at taking selfies. Can you like, please just hire me now?!
9. Are you willing to travel?
- A) I left my house this morning to come to this interview, I call that traveling, so yes. B) The job location was in the job description, are you accusing me of not being able to read? Because I can. #shocker
10. What is your dream job?
- Not working here.
11. Tell me about a time you made a mistake.
- Why? So you can hold it against me forever? No thanks. And in the words of One Direction "baby you're perfect"...."you're" as in me. I AM PERFECT.
12. Tell me how you handled a difficult situation.
- Literally every morning when I have to get out of bed.
13. How do you handle pressure?
- I don't, I lock myself in the bathroom, have a good cry, and pop an Ativan like it's a Tic Tac……. Do you want one?
14. Are you a leader or a follower?
- Well……My ratio on Instagram is, I have 800 followers, and I am following 400 people, so I guess I'm a leader. That's what you meant right?
15. What is your favourite website?
- Every website that is blocked on your system. #micdrop
**Just to clarify, I have gotten job offers but turned them down because I felt like they were not a right fit for me.
