Making Friends In College: A Fairytale Told In GIFS

    More difficult than it seems.

So you’ve met someone new. Through class, an event you went to only for the free pizza bagels, questionable pub trivia night, whatever. The point is, you now have an acquaintance! Hooray!

Now you're feeling cocky around your old friends when you wave to your groovy new one in the library.

But then the time comes when the newbie “gets your number” from a mutual friend. That’s when the “we should chill this weekend” text arrives.

Out of sheer pressure to socialize, you agree to this preposterous request.

You start to panic, wondering what activity you could possibly do with a complete stranger that doesn’t last longer than an hour.

Your first idea is far too casual, and could be [mis]construed as indifference.

But the next one has somehow crossed over the line into Slightly-Romantic Date Land.

Once you’re at the end of your brainstorming rope, you will consider canceling the “chill sesh” all together.

But, after several day-mares of dying alone/in the arms of your confused Polish roommate, you begrudgingly turn off Netflix for the next hour to go on your not-date.

It starts out a little awkward…

But by the fourth hour in Starbucks, you’ve discovered that you both find your Chem TA to be extremely attractive

and have begun to plan a vacation to Barbados for the three of you plus her club-promoter cousin from Brooklyn that you TOTALLY have to meet.

And ta-da! You’ve just made a new friend!

…Or you delete the initial text, move on with your life, and thus experience the biggest relief in the world aside from canceling the plans themselves.

    Happy Friending!
