The Ups And Downs Of Living In China

Living in China certainly has its peaks, but it also has some valleys. Deep, deep valleys.

    1. You're high on life because dinner only costs $1

    2. But you often order the wrong thing because your Chinese is still meh.

    3. One day you pass a stinky tofu stall and you don't hate the smell anymore.

    4. But after a while the oil in Chinese food really gets to you and you're totally sick of it, with side effects of the $hits.

    5. On the bright side, cab fares start at $2 and never really go higher than $7 which is AMA-ZING!

    6. On the less bright side, Chinese taxi drivers will see you, but never stop for you because you're a foreigner.

    7. But then everything's alright when you discover that Narnia, is in fact real. It's called taobao.

    8. And things get better as a lady, since you almost never pay for drinks or nightclub entrance.

    9. ...but then you realize last nights alcohol was fake, making you incapable of life until 4pm the next day.

    10. Unfortunately, China only permits 34 foreign movies per year to screen at the theaters.

    11. AlSO...OLD MEN SPITTING ON THE STREET, UGH!!

    12. Old Chinese people will also randomly yell at you and it makes you want to cry even though you don't know what they're saying.

    13. And it's a real bummer that all the local shops close really early.

    14. And finally, you never really get used to the exposed man bellies once summer sets in.

    15. All in all, you gotta give it to China. Living here is pretty great.
