A Day In The Life Of VP Welfare At Greenwich!

Have you wondered what it’s like to work as a Vice President of Welfare? What the job entails and what it really means to to have that title? Well look no further because our current VP Welfare has shared their typical day with you here!

It's fair to say no one day is the same in the role of VP Welfare but everyday tends to start the same, check emails, send out a tweet, post something on Facebook and breathe. Some days are full of meetings, others are a little more fun and those are the ones worth mentioning!

My favourite day so far in my role as Vice President Welfare has been our first Free Period Roadshow that was in Stockwell Street, we spent the day giving out over a thousand free bags of Sanitary products and we educated so many different students on the tampon tax, what free periods at Greenwich meant and let them know how to get involved. I absolutely loved it because students loved it and it gave us a chance to speak to Students who the SU may not already engage with.

I then went on to check my emails, tweet and post something on Facebook. The average day for a Sabb is not always as fun as that but it doesn't mean it isn't rewarding. On a day to day basis we have various meetings from interview panels for student staff to working alongside the University to deliver students the service they deserve. The planning never stops however when it all comes to light it is great to see the difference it can make to students.

From watching a team win their match on a Wednesday afternoon to running around at the Freshers Fair with a camera every minute we have spent planning is proven to be worthwhile! As I said everyday different however all the long days are worth all the fun and rewarding ones.
