10 Things To Love About The Strive Campaign

So you've gotten to know a little about The Strive Campaign over the past couple of weeks, but you still want to know more! This article outlines a few of the reasons The Strive Campaign deserves your vote on March 8th & 9th.

1. STRIVE is new. They're a fresh take on SGA.

The Strive campaign is a new vision for SGA and for Texas Tech University. STRIVE is an original campaign with a diverse group of senators and executive candidates. These students have pulled from their own experiences at Texas Tech to create initiatives that will better the university for their fellow students.

2. They Are Not What You Would Expect

Two executive candidates come into this campaign with countless prior experience with SGA. The other two candidates pull their experience from other areas on campus. Our student body is diverse, and we believe that the experience of our entire bloc should resemble that. The STRIVE campaign isn't only about having people that look good on paper. It's about having candidates that are passionate about the school. It's about having candidates that are willing to work hard, do their research and follow through. It's about having candidates who trust each other. The candidates on the STRIVE campaign believe in each other. You should too.

3. Kevin Koestler, our candidate for Vice President of Graduate Affairs

Kevin recently graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Business Administration. He is now pursuing a degree in the STEM MBA program through the Rawls College of Business. This guy is going places. Kevin played a role in launching two startup companies during his time at Tech. Yeah, not one, but two. He was the former president of Sigma Phi Epsilon, a fraternity that holds 145+. The fraternity boasted the highest Greek GPA when Kevin was president. Kevin is a leader. Imagine what he can do for this school and the graduate student population.

4. Witt Westbrook, our candidate for Internal Vice President

Witt is a junior, energy commerce major from Stephenville, Texas. The STRIVE campaign prides itself on how passionate the entire block is. In the two-and-a-half years that Witt has been a Red Raider, he's held leadership roles as a senator for the Rawls College of Business, as well as being President of the Rawls Business Ambassadors. He's not only a hardworking student, but a passionate Red Raider! Witt has taken no time to forge a successful college career at Texas Tech. Wouldn't you want him to serve this university?

Not to mention, Witt is the younger brother of current SGA President, Holton Westbrook. Great leadership must run in the family! Witt is ready to leave his own legacy.

5. Alex DeRossi, our candidate for External Vice President

Alex is a junior, energy commerce major, from Flower Mound, Texas. Like the other candidates, Alex is passionate about Texas Tech, and he is also passionate about being a Red Raider. He is serving the Greek community by participating on the Greek Advisory Board. He also serves Texas Tech by recruiting potential students through President's Select. Alex says that he knew Texas Tech was his home the second he stepped on campus for his campus tour! Through his initiatives, Alex wants to continue to better our campus for current and future students. This guy strives to be the best Red Raider he can be and he deserves your vote.

6. Ben Sharp, our candidate for Student Body President

Ben is a junior, economics major, from Borger, Texas. Ben is involved all over campus and deeply cares about his university. He was raised by two Red Raider alums, so he's always bled scarlet and black. You might've heard, but he also won Homecoming king last semester. Ben Sharp is Red Raider royalty. He is also a member of Beta Upsilon Chi, the largest Christian fraternity in the country. Ben is the real deal, and he is as passionate about being a Red Raider as they come. He isn't running just to pad his resume. He is running because his love for Texas Tech has translated into him wanting to improve the university.

7. Our Candidates are Not Afraid to Have a Little Fun

If you've seen a single episode of Strive About It, you know that our candidates aren't afraid to have fun. But they are serious about their initiatives. Whether it's increasing hours at the Rec, or it's improving the overall experience of advising. STRIVE is about getting things done for the university and also enjoying the ride.

8. The Entire Campaign is About Striving for Honor

These passionate and enthusiastic Red Raiders want best for their school. Our candidate for Student Body President, Ben Sharp said, "Strive is a forward looking word. Our campaign is about what we can do for Texas Tech now and in the future. Our campaign is about striving for honor." These Red Raiders are already representing and bettering the university in various ways, they really do live by the words "Strive for honor, evermore."

9. Our Candidates are Working Hard for Each and Every Student

Whether it's our executive candidates, cabinet members, senate candidates or the PR team, the entire STRIVE bloc is dedicated to working hard for the entirety of Texas Tech. Our bloc is striving to give representation to every student at this university, just check out our diversity initiatives later this week. They are giving it their all in this campaign, and it's already proving to be successful. Just imagine when they're elected.

10. We're More Than Just Four Guys

The STRIVE Campaign isn't just about the executive candidates. There is a level of trust and transparency from top to bottom with the campaign. The senators, cabinet and the rest of the team are always in the mix. This level of trust only improves the changes they want for Texas Tech. The STRIVE Campaign is about the truest Red Raiders wanting what is best for the students and school they love so dearly.
