Meet Martha, The World's Ugliest Dog And Also Your New Icon

Her name is Martha, and she's gassy as hell.

World, it is my distinct pleasure to introduce you to Martha, the newly crowned winner of the World's Ugliest Dog competition held annually in Petaluma, California.

Fourteen of the world's most heinous pups were entered into the competition, but Martha was IN IT to WIN IT.

Martha's sassy, she's brassy, and according to her owners, she's also pretty damn gassy.

We are all Martha, the World's Ugliest Dog.

The runner-up was this little pooch named Moe. At 16 and a half years old, Moe was the most elderly in the competition. SEE? You can be ugly at any age — inspiring!

And in third place we have Chase. According to his owner, Chase is routinely mistaken for Dobby, the house elf. I see it!!!

But honestly, there were so many good contestants this year. Like Rascal:

And this little pup, whose name — in case you didn't notice the bedazzled collar — is Icky.

And then there's Brutus, who in my opinion embodies way too many conventional beauty standards to be in an ugly dog competition. Love a good underbite, though.

Okay, so it might seem kind of ~mean~ to call a dog ugly, but the contest is really about celebrating these weirdo pups. And most of the freaky little contestants are rescues, which is super sweet!

As for our gal Martha, she took home $1,500, a trophy, and a free trip to NYC to meet her millions of new fans. Heavy lies the crown, Martha.
