It all started when Corden suggested that Cardellini should appear on the hit animated show.
And MacFarlane made a face like, "Oh, shit."
"Well, funny you should mention that," Cardellini said to Corden. "Because I got fired from it once."
"Shut up!" Corden replied, while MacFarlane looked like he wanted to be anywhere but where he was sitting.
"I did. I did. I did a voice on it, and I told everybody to tune in and watch. And then when I watched it, I was replaced."
"I hope you didn't have people over to your house to, like, watch the show or anything like that," MacFarlane said.
"I mean, I might've... I mean, maybe," she replied.
Corden started giving MacFarlane a hard time for firing her — and Cardellini went on to describe how nobody had even given her a heads-up that she'd been replaced.
"I mean, it's fine, because if I stunk, I wouldn't want it on there, anyway," she told Corden.
Corden offered MacFarlane an opportunity to defend himself, but he pretty much played the "I don't know her" game.
There was then a TRULY awkward silence where nobody said anything.
"That's really it?" Corden asked him, laughing.
Corden and Cardellini continued to give MacFarlane a hard time — but in the end, they were able to laugh the whole thing off, and MacFarlane even offered her a role on another one of his shows, American Dad.
