Response to Young Black Man In A Car Crash Knocked On Doors Asking For Help And Was Shot And Killed By Police:
I understand the woman calling the police. I would have done it, and I am Black, but you can’t tell me that the officer who shot him was not afraid. And he was afraid of him because he was Black. Now for those of you trying to justify this cop’s behavior, do you really think this story would read the same way if the man charging him, similar in stature, same circumstances was white?
I just wish everyone would admit their own fears and barriers when it comes to race and deal with them instead of pretending they don’t exist.
