Here's Why Beyoncé's Tribute To Aaliyah Caused A Twitter Stir

Beyoncé posts throwback video of her and Aaliyah and people on twitter can't stop talking about it.

Today is the anniversary of Singer Aaliyah's death and many celebrities are talking about it and paying tribute via social media. Beyoncé was no exception as she posted a video of the pair at the 2000 MTV VMAs to her Instagram. See post below.

In usual fashion, Queen Bey left the post to speak for itself and didn't add a caption. But have no fear, soon after, comments started rolling in about the post. In fact, of all of the Aaliyah tributes and posts on social media, this one has yielded nearly 12,000 comments on Instagram and several tweets.

Initially the conversation started out in an adoration of the two singers

Then the twitter world tried to spiral down the wrong path for a minute...

Aaliyah was the GOAT I mean Rihanna and Beyonce poppin but it was something about Aaliyah 😍

...and tweets began to start about who or would've been the greatest, but the vast majority of twitter universe were sure to put this debate in check...

God rest Aaliyah's soul but can y'all stop comparing her and Beyoncé? Can y'all give that up today? Please?

Y'all comparing Aaliyah and Beyoncé on the day of her death? You know what I'm going to be respectful.

Overall, it was so beautiful to see this endearing post from Beyoncé in remembering her friend, and it's nice to see the larger world of social media reminding us all what today is really about. Remembering the Back and Forth singer. RIP Aaliyah.
