Formal wear is easier than you think.
The one thing that separates small businesses from big operations? Customer service and local inventory. Local shops know that the key to success lies in the relationships they form with their customers. In formal wear, we create this relationship by giving you exactly what you need for your event. Have a formal emergency? No problem. Stallone's Formal Wear has the largest formal wear warehouse in St. Louis County, so we can fit your last minute needs.
It WILL fit. It WILL look great. You WILL be dressed appropriately.
Because they literally are too good to be true. If you get a deal on a tux that's $50 or more under the original asking price, you will be giving something up. It could be style, quality, fit, color, accessories, or all of the above. Bottom line: make sure you know what you're paying for.
Now that you've narrowed down your options, the next step is to think about location. If the event is held near you, shop at a store near your address. If the event is out of town, find a store near the event or close to your hotel. Most formal wear stores allow you to send in your measurements, style and other necessary information so that all you have to do is pick up your tux.
Now that you've found your store, you need to consider the occasion's dress code. Some dress codes are 'black-tie' or 'black-tie creative", while certain special occasions require 'full dress'. Dress codes are not to be taken lightly. If you wear an unbuttoned collar to a black tie, you WILL stand out, but in the worst way possible. If you don't understand what the dress code is calling for, just ask a formal wear specialist. Their job is to make sure that you wear the appropriate attire. Plus, they know a thing or two about formal wear.
Now that you know what you're looking for, it's time to get fitted. A good formal wear store will perform a fitting as soon as you step foot in the door. If you've been to the store before, chances are they will have your measurements on file. If all else fails, some formal wear stores accept out-of-town measurements, just make sure your measurements are up-to-date.
Preferably a day or two before the event. This gives the formal wear store time to make any necessary alterations to ensure that the suit fits you perfectly. A good store will make you try on EVERY piece including the cuff links, studs, bow tie, suspenders, vest, cummerbund, shoes, etc. Every detail is important.
Typically formal wear stores require that you return your rental the day after your event. Regardless, it is important to know when your return date is so that you can avoid unnecessary late charges.
You're ready. It's time to look awesome.
