Here's Every Black Best Actress Oscar Winner

The Academy Awards first started over 90 years ago. Here's a list of all the black women who have won Best Actress in a Leading Role.

1. Halle Berry

Lionsgate Films, ABC

Halle Berry won in 2002 for her role in Monster's Ball. In her speech, she opened up about this historic moment, saying, "This moment is so much bigger than me. This moment is for Dorothy Dandridge, Lena Horne, Diahann Carroll. It's for the women that stand beside me: Jada Pinkett, Angela Bassett, Vivica Fox. And it's for every nameless, faceless woman of color that now has a chance because this door tonight has been opened."

That's it, unfortunately.

To celebrate all the times the Oscars got it wrong, comment below with your favorite performance by a black actress in a leading role that should have led to an Academy Award win.
