    The City Of Lights

A piece of creative writing paying tribute to the lives lost inside of the Bataclan on November 13th.

    The City Of Lights

Music played, lights flashed, sweaty bodies swayed and thrashed. Screams of delight and excitement rang throughout the concert hall as the entertainment engaged the delirious crowd. The drummer pounded upon his instrument with all his might until the gunmen pulled their triggers that night. The unsuspecting crowd continued to dance to the new drummers beat, not yet realizing what was responsible for this untimely key change. Bullets made their homes in the hearts of the innocent as the screams of delight and excitement soon turned to screams of pain and anguish. A deep red bubbling liquid pooled around the dead lying crumpled and curled on the floor looking blankly into their loved one's eyes as they whispered, "je t'aime, je t'aime." The crowd took cover as the new deadly song was sung. The unpleasant aroma of death oozed from the vents holding the living hostage. Darkness masked the faces of the murders. Shots rang out like thunder. Each time the thunder let out its unforgiving cry the room rattled and shook as another life was taken. There was no comfort to be found lying on the cold, hard, bloody floor. There was no mercy hidden within the eyes of these men. These men had no eyes. They were blinded by the darkness of their hearts and the cruelty of their intentions. Without hesitation these dark souls pointed their weapons of death and took it upon themselves to release the breath that you had been holding.

I would like to make it very clear that I was not inside of the Bataclan myself. This is merely a piece of writing that depicts what I believe it was like to witness these horrible acts of terrorism. I am thankful that I did not have to endure the unimaginable and that I get to stop imagining. My heart breaks for the victims and their families. I hate that this has happened to such wonderful people & I pray that we do our best to insure that something like this never happens again.
