10 Online Love Stories That Will Make You Believe In Love Again

From asking people out on Instagram live to Tinder to Yahoo messenger, there's a lot of beautiful love stories to cry over.

We asked Indians on the internet to tell us how they met their partners online and they delivered. Here are some of our favourites:

1. When Supreet and Gaurav swiped right on each other and a lifetime of travel.

"We met on Tinder, and it just happened. Gaurav was the first guy I met via the app and we hit it off over our shared love for travel and cocktails. No one asked out the other, we just kept meeting and it felt right. After we got married, we were discussing a long trip since a while, and it just felt something we had to do before we turned 30. We started the trip on 27th March, 2017 with a one-way ticket to Morocco. Over the six months, we visited 46 cities in 12 countries."

Supreet and Gaurav dated for two years and are happily married globetrotters.

2. When Dharti and Shubh met on a Facebook confessions page.

"That time confession pages were in trend. So I read a lesbian confession on Kelkar College's page and being a lesbian, I felt for that girl and hence wrote a very motivating comment for her. Shubh randomly saw my comment and decided to talk to me. She then sent me a friend request and we were chatting for a few months before we decided to meet. I instantly liked her when I saw her for the first time waiting for me near a shop wearing a black kurta. She was very conscious about herself because it was her first time meeting a stranger via Facebook, but she was very sweet to me. Days went by and we started getting close and then we knew we are soulmates and fell in love each other."

Dharti and Shubh have been dating for more than five years now and are engaged.

3. When Tina and Chirag fell for each other because of an Instagram comment.

"We only heard about each other in school but never met in person. About one-and-a-half years ago, I was recovering from a bad break up and was randomly dating other guys. He had also broke up months ago but was looking for someone to settle down with while I didn't want to. So one fine morning I woke up to see his comment on one of my Instagram posts. So I checked his profile and found him cute still unaware of the fact that I had heard his name literally five years ago. But while I was waiting to talk to him he never texted me. He would just comment. After making me wait for a few days I saw his text one morning and it all began from there. As we talked, I developed an instant liking towards him but was unsure of going into a relationship. So after talking for a few days we decided to meet. I had travelled 187 kms from Kolkata to Durgapur just to meet him and when we met I couldn't help but fall for him when he came to pick me up from the bus stop on a rainy night. Though we are in a long distance relationship, we are totally head over heels on each other."

Tina and Chirag celebrated their one-and-a-half year anniversary on January, 26.

4. When Teena was looking for friends on Tinder, but fell in love with Jo.

"I met my partner on Tinder while I was looking for friends. No, really. I was looking for friends. The first time we met, I took another friend along because I thought I'd be awkward in front of her but by the end of the night I just wanted my friend to go away so I could spend time with her. She's a musician and we worked on getting her EP recorded and she's seen me through my master's thesis."

It's been two years and they're just bringing the best out in each other every day together.

5. When Shambhavi asked Amaan out on an Instagram live.

"So, we met two years back and we soon found out that we had some common friends. Three months passed and we realised we were just too perfect for each other but none of us had any idea how to tell the other person what we feel about each other so I figured out I'd initiate it. I went live on Instagram and when I had about 30 viewers on my live video, I confessed my feelings and I still think that's the cutest thing I've ever done in my life. I also sung his favourite song "Safest Place To Hide" by Backstreet Boys on that live video. In response, he wrote me a long, long text telling me how this was the most amazing thing that anyone had ever done for him."

Shambhavi and Amaan have been together and blissfully in love for two years now.

6. When Hayle met Kiran because of a friend she met on Tinder.

"I landed in Mumbai to start working in women’s rights. I’d left my entire LGBTQ+ support network behind in London and I was really sad about it. My friend persuaded me to download Tinder and I was really sarcastic about it at first because I didn’t want to date at all. Within minutes I had matched with a woman and although it was clear that all I wanted was friendship she offered to introduce me into her WhatsApp group of close lesbian friends. I started messaging into the group daily and everybody responded, and I felt very much accepted. A few days later another women was added to the group and straight away I started to notice her sense of humour and the memes and comments that she made were really hilarious (and all the ones id been sending to my friends back home). Plus, she was the most beautiful women I had ever seen. Over time, our messages turned into phone calls and then video calls. We were virtually dating each other via the internet and getting to know each other and things were going really well. When I landed back in Mumbai, we met for the first time and one date turned into spending an entire week together. I had to leave India when my visa ran out and at that point we didn’t know if Kiran’s student visa had been approved. But everything seemed to fall in place, and we were finally reunited when Kiran landed in London to start her new course. In December we

had the proposal in the most romantic set up at Kew Gardens, London (where we’d had our first ever U.K. date). She immediately said yes and a little later that evening in a beautiful light tunnel she produced a ring and proposed to me… I hadn’t realised how in-sync we were until this point and the whole evening was amazing."

Hayle and Kiran will be heading for marital bliss on June 1, 2019.

7. When Zankhana and Amrut added each other on Facebook and braved the odds to be together.

"I met Amrut in 2011. So once I accepted the request he started with a hi. And believe me he was so kind and down-to-earth with no cheesy or flirty lines, talking all about education and his aspirations. His parents were so upset with the idea of us because he’s a Marwadi and well I am a Gujarati that they threatened him horribly. But I requested him to stay friends at least; and we stayed in touch. By the time he realised that this is meant to be forever, he was like, ‘Zankhana, no matter what, we shall fight for us. His family (except his sister) yet haven’t accepted us, but my family loves him."

Zankhana and Amrut dated for six years before tying the knot on December,4, 2017.

8. When Shubhangi and Devinder met on Yahoo messenger.

"I'm from Maharashtra and he's from Himachal Pradesh. It was around 2006 and I still don't know how he got my email ID and he doesn't remember either. After chatting for a few months, both of us moved to Pune for further studies. That is where we met for the first time and fell in love."

Shubhangi and Devinder have been together for 13 years and are now married with a little son.

9. When Bhavya and Neel made a relationship that began on Facebook last despite long distance.

"I met my man back in May, 2012. I am from Vadodara and he is from Ahmedabad. Initially, we did not meet for almost a year. During this time, we fell in love and finally decided to meet. Before I could even ask him to meet me, he surprised me on my birthday. After this I talked to my family and they were happy, but Neel's parents were not agreeing to our relationship. He tried to convince them but nothing worked. After that my parents came to know that his parents are not ready so they also refused. But, we kept fighting for six years or so. Finally, September 29, 2018, my in-laws we're ready to accept the relationship happily."

Bhavya and Neel have dated for six years and will get married this December.

10. And when Yahya and Sid's endless conversations led to a happy ending.

"Around 3 am, once home, I found a Tinder notification that we had matched. So with zero expectations, I messaged 'Hey'. We barely slept that morning. Constantly pacing in bed and chatting away to glory. More than 12 hours had passed, and we had not stopped speaking even one moment. That was when we decided to meet in real. We went to a coffee shop and realised that we had so much more to talk about. Our first proper kiss followed that night. After meticulous planning, one August weekend, after a month of us having met, we flew to Hyderabad with a pretext of a “chill weekend”. Overlooking the majestic city of Hyderabad and under careful watch of the Falaknuma Palace’s security cameras, I whispered in his ears, “Would you like to shed the boyfriend tag and marry me instead?” Issues cropped up later though. Yahya’s Muslim parents and Sid’s Hindu parents who are first generation refugees from East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) meant that everything wasn't going to go silky smooth. Finally, after weeks of planning, trying to convince our families and further to good wishes from close friends, we eloped to Denmark and signed our hearts to each other, officially."

Yahya and Sid have been together for six months and have been married for two of them.
