This Black Community In Gujarat Identifies As Indian But Faces Incredible Racism

"The chemistry between Indians and Africans is not that good. Some of them don't trust us."

In the latest episode of their Pop Up series in India, BBC spoke of racism in India through experiences of Africans living in the country.

Benjamin Pratt, who suggested the story to BBC, spoke about the experiences that he and his other friends from Africa have had in India.

The BBC team took Pratt on a trip to meet Gujurat's Siddi community, which comprises Indians of African descent.

Pratt was pretty psyched about the idea.

Once there, members of the community said that they also faced the same questions that Pratt faces in cities.

Siddis are Indians by birth and citizenship, though they retain some African identity.

While racism still persists, Pratt left with a change in the way he saw India.
