A 23-year-old man has been banned from consuming alcohol after he called the police on Christmas Day and claimed he was Nicki MInaj.

A high court judgement ruled that Steven Brown, from Dublin, Ireland, should pay £250 and has been banned from calling 999 unless there is a real emergency. he has also been banned from drinking alcohol due to him being a "nuisance"

Brown, already under an anti-social behaviour order (ASBO), called 999 at 10:15 in the morning and claimed that two men were threatening to kill him. The police were not able to get more information because Brown appeared to be drunk.

Five minutes later he called back and asked the police to cancel his previous call. He then went on to claim he was Nicki Minaj – and said there was a poltergeist in his house.

A defence barrister for Brown said that he had been released from hospital earlier that day and, against medical advice, mixed medication with alcohol.

So he really did believe there was a poltergeist roaming outside his house.

Brown was eventually released on bail but not before Lord Justice Coghlin called him a nuisance and said that “police have better things to do that cope with these telephone calls.”
