Boston To-Do List: 6 For Spring

Spring is a beautiful time in Boston! After a seemingly endless winter, it's time to take advantage of all the great (and often cheap or free!) activities Boston has to offer during the spring. Originally posted on our blog, 300 The Fenway.

1. Kick off Red Sox season with opening day!

Springtime in Boston means one thing: baseball season! Opening day at Fenway park is Friday, April 4th, and the Student Activities Office will be hosting a viewing party at 2:05 pm in the Student Activities Center with cotton candy, free posters, and raffle prizes for trivia!

Students can purchase $9 standing room only tickets for Red Sox home games, and $20 seats for specifically themed college nights in April and May.

2. Go shopping at Haymarket

Buy delicious produce from local farmers and get some fresh air at Haymarket, Boston's Historic Market, located on the edge of the North End.

Directions: Take the Green Line from the Museum of Fine Arts and get off at Haymarket.

3. Cheer for the runners at the Boston Marathon

The Boston Marathon is the world's oldest annual marathon. The college will be closed April 21 in honor of Patriot's Day, so make sure you get out to cheer on the runners!

Directions to the finish line: Take the Green Line and get off at the Prudential Center or Hynes Convention Center.

4. Stroll through the tulips in Copley Square

Copley Square comes alive with beautiful tulips in the spring. Perfect for an afternoon stroll!

Directions: Take the Green Line to Copley.

5. Have a picnic at Jamaica Pond

One of Boston's beautiful hidden gems, take a trip to Jamaica Pond and relax for the afternoon. The 1.5 mile path is a great location for walking or jogging, and the grassy areas and benches are perfect for having a picnic. You can also rent row boats from the boat house and soak in the sun floating on the pond.

Directions: Take the Orange Line from Ruggles and get off at Green Street.

6. Take a walk through Arnold Arboretum

Early spring is the ideal time to watch green leaves emerge and early blossoms brighten the landscape at Arnold Arboretum. You can take a free guided tour, or just wander through the flowers and trees at your own pace.

Directions: Take the Orange Line to Forest Hills and follow the signs to Arnold Arboretum.
