10 Reasons Why Simmons Rocks

Sure, there are plenty of great schools around, but we happen to think Simmons is the best. And no, we’re not biased.

1. Boston!

Simmons is located in the heart of Boston, 0.2 miles from the nearest MBTA station, 6 miles from Logan International Airport, next door to the best museums, restaurants, music venues, movie theaters, and more! With the city at your doorstep, it’s hard to ever be bored.

2. Stormy the Shark

Our amazing mascot, Stormy the Shark, is a beloved part of our campus! Stormy’s even been spotted around Boston, bringing smiles to the city!

3. Simmons Athletics

Simmons has ten NCAA Division III varsity intercollegiate teams, providing a serious workout for student athletes who seek award-winning coaches, a competitive game schedule and a personal challenge. While the majority of Simmons’ competitive athletes are recruited out of high school, many skilled walk-ons get plenty of opportunities to play.

4. Life on campus

In the middle of all the city action, our residence campus is peaceful and green. At the end of a busy day, students come home to an urban oasis of trees and open space, and a close-knit community of friends. A short walk from the main campus, Simmons’ gated residence campus offers a private refuge in the heart of the city. Simmons has nine residence halls surrounding a grassy quad where you can find students relaxing or studying on the colorful adirondack chairs on sunny days.

5. Colleges of the Fenway

Simmons is a member of the Colleges of the Fenway (COF), a collaboration between six academic institutions in Boston’s Fenway neighborhood. The COF gives students the opportunity to engage and interact with other students, organizations and classes at participating colleges. There are numerous activities for COF students, including a jazz band, orchestra, dance project, theatre project, chorus and intramural sports teams.

6. Boston’s cultural scene

Boston is home to a ton of cultural destinations, including the Museum of Fine Arts, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and Symphony Hall. And, it just so happens, all three of those are within a mile of Simmons’ campus.

7. Internship opportunities

Boston is a hub of innovation, so we’re never short on places for our students to intern! We regularly have students interning at The State House, all the area hospitals, the Joslin Diabetes Center, PricewaterhouseCoopers and more! We also hold career fairs on campus to help our students connect with the best organizations for them!

8. Engaging faculty members

Simmons professors are actively involved in their fields as distinguished researchers, authors, Fulbright scholars, administrators, consultants and community leaders. Many faculty receive research awards from organizations like the Ford Foundation, Freeman Foundation, the National Science Foundation, and United Institute of Peace. All are passionate teachers who take pride in personally mentoring their students!

9. Our phenomenal alumnae/i

Simmons College has an alumnae/i network of more than 50,000 career professionals who are making an impact on society. Simmons alumnae/i are an invaluable resource to the Simmons community, and many are more than willing to help students achieve their career goals!

10. Our students!

Our students are what truly makes Simmons a great place to be! They’re dedicated to learning, our community and, most importantly, each other. Our tribe is strong, and we love each and every member of our Simmons family!
