    Ramadaan, a holy month in the Muslim calendar where a lot of emphasis is on disciplining the five senses. The month is all about feasting during Iftar, a community meal enjoyed by family.

    While the choice of food for iftar varies with each region, here's a list of ten things that shouldn't be missed

    Dry Fruits

    Muslims break their fast with Dates, at least in India. The dates have high levels of natural sugars which is an instant energiser-A reason why dates would be the best bet for the hungry souls.

    Biryani: Again an Indian specialty which is a favourite among non-vegetarians.A rich delicacy where rice and meat is flavoured with aromatic spices and cooked in rich creamy yoghurt with a dash of herbs and saffron.

    Fruits: If it's ramadaan then you will invariably find fruit stalls offering you the season's exotic fruits on a platter. This is the best time to try them all.

    Haleem: A popular meat dish available mostly during this season. Haleem is a blend of meat, spices, wheat slow cooked for a couple of hours to get a smooth creamy consistency.

    Sheer Korma: A perfect dessert recipe. It's a traditional preparation made for Eid, a festival that marks the end of the fasting month. The vermicili pudding is loaded with dry fruits.
